Mortgage rates are going up again which suggests the banks do not believe we will bet getting any interest rate cuts anytime soon. -
Stats are stats. Boots on the ground tell a very different story, at least for me as a software engineer/devops/platform guy.Originally posted by willendure View PostOn the question of number of inside vs outside contracts available, I have rss feeds on jobserve that monitor all IT inside and outside. Its not 100% reliable as the perfect search terms cannot be found, but I would say generally it is pretty accurate. Here is the post count for the last year, since Oct 2024:
inside.rss 1654
outside.rss 7345
So I do think there are more outside contracts than inside available.

Don't get your knickers in a twist. I think the image is pretty self explanatory, it even has a caption at the top you can read that says what is about.Originally posted by WTFH View PostAh, a screenshot of a graph from a youtube video with no details.
A bit selective and pointless. This is the professional forums, please try to be professional in them.

It's about the AI bubble and the problems at the Fed.

They may cut rates BUT inflation is rising again, so perhaps not.Originally posted by Fraidycat View PostThose charts show the effect of the general jobs market turning down in the US. We in the Tech/IT sector have been suffering for 3 years while many other sectors were doing ok, but now the down turn is more widespread.
They will cut rates interest rates more aggressively in the US now and UK will have to follow.Leave a comment:

It takes practice I think. Blew my recent permie interview in part because I just didn't really know what kind of things they would ask or what kinds of answers would get me the job, but to be expected if its the only permie interview I have done in 25 years!Originally posted by Dorkeaux View PostThe permie interview I did was me failing. One is my traditional contracting company which I will possibly fold if I don't land anything before December. The other two are 'product' companies, each serving a very different market. Startups that won't yield a return for several months, hence the reason I'm pursuing contracts still.Originally posted by hobnob View Post
Out of interest, why 3 companies? As I understand it, they'd be "associated companies" if they have the same shareholder(s), and then the corporation tax threshold gets split equally between them.Leave a comment:
