I find real life evidence very hard to reconcile with the upbeat employment stats.

I suspect contractors on the bench don't count in the unemployment statistics, although I admit I did sign on once in the past (it was to get a discount price for an adult education course)

Are you the only tester in the organisation, otherwise are you doing the work permanent staff do?

There isn't any permanent equivalent staff. Next.

Apart from the exceptions where the role requires DV/SC clearance etc.

I used to be in Testing including Test Automation (in all application tiers - Front end, Middleware and Backend + traditional and Agile methodologies such as BDD/TDD)

My SC lapsed several years ago and you would probably call me a generalist just to ruin a few people's assumptions about the market.

Is it just me, or has there been complete radio silence from recruiters in the last few days? Last week, things were looking up and I was getting calls and my CV was getting sent out. Now there is NOTHING but crickets. This is not looking good at all.

I know some positions that were going to go live have now been put back until April where I work, I can imagine it will be the same in other industries.
