Some really badly paid roles coming in recently. Usual rate for my generic job is around £380-400. Had e-mails for blackpool £230/day, manchester £260/day and bristol £350 inside.

I wonder if people are taking them. Must be, I guess.

Funny you should mention that, after two days of silence my phone has been ringing off the hook with roles that are perfect in every way except the rate is ridiculously low. I'm talking £350 instead of £500.

The 3 gigs I interviewed for this month:

Gig 1) Amazing rate. Interview cancelled 30 mins prior to interview. I had moved personal plans for this. Interview was never re-arranged.
Gig 2) Good rate (so I thought). Attended interview and client was very interested. However the agent had lied about the rate to the tune of £100 p/day. Asked me if I was still interested at the reduced rate.
Gig 3) Good rate again. Was offered the job. However the client is undergoing a spending review so it was put on hold.



I have other interviews in the pipeline at least. Market isn't dead but its very slow.

Those rates are not just bad rates. Must be really mean clients/recruiters too.

These appallingly low rates are popping up more and more often.

Last ones I've seen:

- Project Manager, £200-240
- Finance Manager, £200
- Content Designer, £160

All public sector, all inside ir35.

Very depressing.

it's not the rate, it's the principle.

I get your point, but following that principle will drive rates lower and lower...
