Nothing wrong with having someone look at your CV but if it has been working for you over a number of years it is probably the market and not something you are or are not doing.

The CV is pretty much dead. Keep one and keep it to two pages but your linkedin profile, with 50 tags, validated and with premium enabled is much more important. Linked in is basically now doing what Jobserve should have done 10 years ago.

        - more attritional for junior roles (300pd bod more likely to move than senior person on 1000 as they chase the higher rate)

I guess the flip side of the coin is that a junior person is more replaceable, in my experience (FS) generally based on attitude. A hardworking BA is preferred to a clever but lazy one.

Is LinkedIn working better for you in the current market?

For me Premium tags and updating once in a while doesn't change much and don't get me started on the open to work thing even if it's not visible

I must have missed something. What are these tags on LI?

The only ones I'm aware of are where you @ someone or litter posts with hashtags. Are there things you can add to your profile too?

I think they may mean you can add in tech/industry buzzwords about what you do/offer in the 'About' section.

I realised I was missing some descriptions for my last 3/4 gigs, so I have tarted my profile up.

Also was offered a Premium Business promotion for £15pm for two months. I will cancel before it goes back up.

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

You can add only 5 skills to the 'About' section so have to choose them wisely. But you can add 100 in total that you can use against each gig you do.

Does seem that this recent bounce was nothing to get excited about.

I was concerned about those people predicating that it would take 18mths from 04/2025. Now it does seem more than likely it will take at least that long.

I got an interview off the back of it but it seems to be packing up for Christmas now.

Problem is with the amount of people available it will take a while to work through plus there is next to no job/contract liquidity as people are keeping hold of what they have.

Yes, you can add tags so the LI AI and the software enabled on the recruiter side of LI can see you properly.

As far as I know the Li algo does not read your CV.

The better way to optimise your tags is to run seperate post and job board searches, record the tags they were searching for and then enable those tags onto your own profile.

Seen a job advertised at £500 per day on LI, agent then came back and said oh it’s £400 now or FTC £70k …is day rate better? They won’t do perm just £400 or £70k …not to say I’ll even get a look in …I’m thing day rate is better. Any thoughts??
