    About to join IPSE...

Yeah, just to get the other bits and pieces that QDOS does not do, I am about to join IPSE+.

    Quick questions though:

    1. Silly question to be honest: I take it , by getting the IPSE+ membership now (now that i already have almost everything from QDOS), it will NOT invalidate / void anything with QDOS?
    2. Do IPSE insist on members to join groups, seminars or talks etc, as IPSE is run by "members"?
I won't find time for any meetings etc unfortunately... and I am not really cut out for those sort of get-togethers! So I assume its not mandatory to be actively participating in such things in order to be a member?
    3. I also take it that they won't pass around details of my address etc. to other members in the same area as I live or work?

My idea is to use QDOS for anything tax related and insurance related (since i have PI etc. with them too apart from TLC35, jury cover and legal cover + IR 35 reviews), and then to use IPSE+ for anything else (i.e. those that are not in QDOS packages that I currently have).

    What do you guys say?

    1. No, it doesn't invalidate anything.
    2. No, you don't have to join anything - but the events really are worth attending to make sure you're up to speed on IR35 etc - there's no obligation to socialise afterwards! You will get emails telling you about your local events, but you can opt out.
    3. No, they won't pass your details to anybody, unless you have specifically asked them to (e.g. if you take out the life insurance, your details will necessarily be passed to the scheme provider).

What I do is use QDOS for the mandatory insurances and IPSE+ for IR35. Then ensure as much as possible that you're getting cashback through IPSE (supermarkets and other places)
        QDOS TLC35 is overkill IMO

Also IPSE events can be fun but remember they are sales pitches in disguise

          Some are, some aren't.

The last one I attended did briefly point out the benefits of being a plus member, but as over 50% of the people in the room were already plus members, it really wasn't geared towards sales. The purpose of it was to educate on IR35. The WFN events I've attended haven't been at all salesy. But the CV webinars are very salesy (the CV company's services), but still very useful.

+1 on IPSE Advantages (the discount scheme) - I'd largely ignored it until this year, but it's worth bothering with - all the little bits add up.

Sorry - I meant the 'guest speaker' type events - career, accountancy, CV etc - are soft sales pitches for the companies concerned

I got an email from IPSE t'other day about the IPSE advantages (I'd forgot about them) long story short I've got LegoLand Windsor booked for the family in August for £115 instead about nearly £200!.

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

The IPSE advantages scheme really sucks compared to other employee schemes. Fewer retailers and lower %-ages

Dunno - I'm not an employee. But I got 11% off a lot of my Christmas shopping at Debenhams, which seemed pretty good. I guess you pick your offers.
