Well if they want to submit my CV so they have to tell me don't they.

After you've read the role which is word Document with "Lloyds Bank Plc" or "Reuters" on the header you don't actually have to submit.

If all agents were only to lie then by definition you could never ever contract with them because even when you have a contract it would be a lie ....

Some contractors need to stop getting so paranoid about agents and use them to their advantage so they can pitch their rate better, and talking to them is a good way to get some info on the market.
    I'm alright Jack

SquareOne, anyone else with these muppets? Three days they've had my CV, spec is basically my raison d'etre and yet not one email or phone, even for acknowledgement of CV.

Rant Over. I'd forgotten how bad it is dealing with these dicks.

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

I'm with them now, they've been great. I get paid 3 days after invoicing (self billing too, so minimal effort) and they even offered to put me on weekly invoicing for the first month as I'd been on the bench for a bit before getting this.

So so - plenty of calls, not so much interviews.
Had one that i didnt go to because it was far and lowest rate.
Other than that, i'll find something soon i think

I found them good when I worked through them, but that was a long time ago now, and the agent I dealt with has long since departed.

                My condolences.

Seriously, an agency can be as good or as bad as you want them to be. Something that has served me well is to remember that the agent and agency are two different entities; while the agency tries to assimilate salespeople, it's more about when it clicks with the agent to become a relationship builder and account manager to develop business rather than a hard-nosed salesperson. No point tarring one agency because your agent is a bit tulip or an agent because they are currently at an agency you've had bad experiences with in the past. I always try and stay in touch with agents that have found me work in the past as it makes a good first port of call when I'm coming available.

Would love to know who the end client is then can try and go direct.

After getting cut off for third time, you start to get a tad what's the word...****ed off?

Of course if they are discussing a "real" role with you but my impression is the thread was about agents asking the "how are you finding it...." question, which, is now and forever has been, a precursor to the usual drivvle:
                    • I have a really good relationship with the dev manager at that place, what's his name again.....erm........
                    • I play jim rummy with Arfur, the technical director....
                    • I've placed 15 guys their with them this morning.....
                    • I know Trev the PM at that place....

                    ?

So there is a gig then? Or are they doing the whole cv farming/two references thing on you?
