How your contract search is going?

All agents keep asking this question and even if I reply that I will not tell where else I have been interviewing they still want to know how many interviews I have, client type, stage and many other details including colour of the walls in the office.

And here is a dilemma. It's probably not good to say that I have only one or two interviews, as this will show that I am not very popular and do not worth an effort. If I say I have three to five interviews then they will decide it's not worth the effort since I am likely get an offer from one of those.

So what is the best answer to keep them on their toes and avoid a long conversation "I do not want the name of the other client but can you describe in all details how it went"?

I've only just started looking - I've spoken to a couple of people though. How are you finding the market?

        What he TheFaQQer says.

"I only started looking this morning" or "I was waiting for something interesting to come along and yours looks to be right up my street"

"I've had a couple of other agents call me about roles they have coming up, what have you got to offer me?"

Imply that it's agents calling you, not you calling them.

Looks like Relaxed hadn't started looking then.

I don't have a problem talking to agents find it useful, you can ask them questions too!

The last agent told me about all the companies who were looking for people.
                  I'm alright Jack
