    This Reference Business

I dont know what it is but the last 3 contracts have all demanded references for every gig from the last 3/5 years.

    What a palaver!

My most recent one for the MOD is a baseline security check and I can confirm that they will accept a reference from my accountant to verify that Ive been working for the companies Ive claimed to have been working for on my cv.
Im guessing if it's good enough for them it's good enough for anyone so just a bit of a heads up to save any of you unwanted hassle.

MOD will always be reference heavy. I work in Investment Banking that's reference & all sorts of other background checks every single time every for contract renewal onsite with the same client!!

How does your accountant know for certain who your end clients are? Mine sees an invoice from me to the agency (or client, if direct), so how can they be sure that your CV is correct?

All the accountant is doing is verifying that you are a company director and they have done your accounts for x years.

I don't think Bolshie would entertain this posters trolling tbh.

Which carries more weight IMHO than me calling up a bloke you went to the pub with every Friday lunchtime and asking them if you did a good job.

Which isn't what the OP said:

                  Hence my question.

Clients can no longer provided opinion-based references.

Simply provide details of the agency used where appropriate or general telephone number if direct.
