Been seeing a lot of this in my own area where contracts are being turned into FTC for around 30k mark or very noticeable drop in rates. For the moment I have a longish term contract (but anything can change as we know). Will be squirreling away as much as possible to shield me from the cold dark days to come....

Saw a role for my skillset in a location not far from current ClientCo recently, for 40% of my current rate?

        Start filling that War Chest.
Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.

They'll fill it with a Bob and realise eventually that you get what you pay for.

Never ceases to amaze me. Surely the person responsible for this budget knows that the only people who are going to apply for this will be either a) crap or b) desperate.

FTC's are not for us so not so sure why we are getting so upset about them. Don't get me wrong, they are a disgrace and I can't see any good coming from them in the long run but still.... They just aren't for us so nothing really to get all excitable over..

The people that apply for this won't be (or shouldn't be) contractors so they will be the going standard for permie rates....

They are of concern if they are beginning to replace pukka contract roles.
