    Jobs....?

What's the process for notifying fellow CUK members of any roles that are coming up/or that you are not available for?
From time to time I'll be contacted by an agency about a role I can't be put forward for, because I'm in a role or for whatever reason.
Normally I'll mention it to mates but of course they will be in roles. I've just been contacted by an agent about a communications role with a big private sector company. I asked if they were looking for a pure comms person (my specialty) but they will consider business change with strong comms experience. Nice rate too, £400 a day. Anyone interested I'll pass on the agents details.

IMO I'd only recommend someone I know and trust. I wouldn't want to put a duffer forward and I wouldn't want to put someone forward if they then get screwed by the agent. I'd only pick someone that can deal with both situations so there is no come back on me.

I guess you are after the finders fee but good luck with that!

NLUK you old cynic, you!! I don't give a monkey's about the finder's fee. In fact, despite having friends/contacts taken on for roles, I've never made a penny in finder's fees in my life.

And I am certainly not recommending someone for a role; I'm letting them know the agent is looking for a candidate with suitable experience and saying, if you have the experience for the role, get in touch with the agent. Then it's down to the agent to proceed as normal.

I believe the mods will allow jobs to be posted by well known posters - but not on behalf of an agency.

If an agent is having problems getting candidates they should use jobserve more.

This. It's not always black and white, but it can become a free advertising channel for agencies if allowed unfettered. Knowing of an opportunity that's being advertised by an agency is beyond the pale.

I've occasionally need people with specific skills and posted them here; I have also gained work through this site. But it's always direct - never via agencies.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

Yes I can see how the lines can get blurred if not careful.

And it being the first day in December, let me be the first to wish everyone a merry Xmas! Or maybe I should wait a bit longer.....
