    RBS Basic credit check

    Hi all

I have just been offered a contractor role at RBS and am slightly worried about passing the credit check (paranoid maybe), i have no serious financial problems, just a few late payments over the years (paid within a week). I have a credit card, loan and overdraft, all of which i pay above the minimum payment every month.

I have checked experian and equifax and both say i have a good credit score, the only parts that are amber (not green) is the amount i have borrowed.

Do you think this is likely to affect my credit check?

I only ask as i have read RBS are particularly strict.

I'd say you've already answered your question? They want to know if you are financial difficulty and might abuse their systems for financial gain. I see nothing here that would indicate that.

You can make your own basic credit check, go to experian site ... there is even a free one month I believe.
Do check on yourself, and see what the report says.

The OP has already done that - the problem is that none of these agencies can tell you how someone else will view the information, nor could they.

RBS are known to be strict - defaults and CCJs - don't even bother to go for the interview, you're simply wasting your time. You can't bluff your way through it - you can be best candidate in history - the hiring manager has zero discretion to overrule if you fail the check.

Simply having a large amount borrowed, I think that would be fine.

I've passed it in RBS a couple of times with worse record than yours so you'll be fine

There is one Basic credit check, and its the same as what Experian gives you on the one month free trail.

Yes, but that Experian check doesn't give a Yes or No. It gives a score and a list of possible flags of concern.

What Experian can't tell you - is what threshold any of their clients apply when they look at that information.

I don't think the OP has anything to worry about, but Experian will only tell you what RBS can see - not how they will judge it.

                OP.

As long as you answered the questions on the TPI form honestly, and of course have no CCJ's, tax evasion record or pending action by creditors all should be good.

Done that long time ago with RBS, also known as PES-Kroll (Pre-Employment Screening).
Should be fine as long as you're not having CCJ's or other serious debt issues. You'll be an employee to them, and not a customer to RBS .

If you've always paid your debts, not a problem. RBS, from what I've heard, only have issues if you've defaulted. If you've missed a payment but got back up to date then it shouldn't be an issue. Keep other options open in the meantime though
