HMRC Reporting Requirements For Agencies - 6th April - Lorien

    Hello

The below has just arrived in my inbox.

I am not sure if I should be worried by the email from Lorien, worried that Lorien who my company has a contract with is wondering who I am or just worried in general.

Is anyone else completing these fact finding things for an agency?
Is this not the agencies job to fill in a form with information that the agency already knows ?

What happens if I just do not complete Lorien's form. Is it not for them to do there own admin ?

    Dear WorzelGummidge,

HMRC has recently announced new reporting requirements for employment agencies effective from 6th April 2015. In short, unless payment to our contractors is made via standard agency PAYE, Lorien must submit additional information to HMRC. This includes, without limitation, payments made to Personal Service Companies, Umbrellas and Consultancies etc.

We currently retain some of this data in our systems but it is imperative that you confirm and provide the detail that HMRC require. The information needed is not onerous and consists of name, gender, address, date of birth and national insurance number.

Please access the attached link and complete the web form no later than 12pm on 16 March 2015. You will need to have your national Insurance number to hand and the form should take no longer than 2 minutes to complete.

    HMRC Data Capture

    Thank you in advance,

    Regards
    Lorien

Loads of stuff on Google about it like this...

Google 'reporting requirements for employment agencies'. Not sure why they are having to ask you for the information though. Maybe they've got a bum system they can't produce a combined report or have been a bit sloppy with admin so having to gather missing data. Did you supply your NI? Have they not stored it due to data protection legislation? They should most certainly have the rest.

The data required is hardly classed as sensitive but I'd certainly be asking why they want this if they already have it.

Ahhh I see the problem.. They don't believe you are called Worzel Gummidge so it's a ploy to just check it.

To balance it out, my experience with them was almost the opposite. They were quite good.

I am not worried about this information being passed to HMRC as it is information that they already have and will have after my year end.

I do not like Lorien trying to outsource their administration part to me.
I think that I will ignore it until the second or third email. Then ask them why they are requesting the information on me that they already have.

Then ask them why they are unable to locate the information that I have already provided them with.

              Firstly ignore it though.

              Thanks.

I would be tempted to then say very clearly as they have lost the personal information you previously gave them, you will inform the Information Commissioner. They will then have to back down or admit they don't store the information.

I guess they are blanket e-mailing everyone in order to ensure the information in their DB is up-to-date and fill in the occasional blanks like NI numbers, that they probably don't have for ltd contractors.

I can't see what all the fuzz is about? You could have send them the information in the same amount of time you spend posting this here. It's not like they are asking you to do the HMRC reporting on their behalf...

I got one of these yesterday and just gave them the information straight away. What's the problem?
