    Poor client behaviour

    Hi all,

I wanted to gauge opinion on a client who is a complete and utter douche.

Serious small man anger issues, previous mental health issues. Constantly wanting to berate and aggressively attack all 3rd parties to the point that no one wants to work anywhere near them. Believes my attitude should match this and the guidance is to treat all 3rd parties like children to be disciplined and anger shown at the drop of a hat.

Really struggling to achieve anything. Thoughts are appreciated.

Carry on invoicing. Look for another gig paying more.

And key his car in the car park....

Sounds like classic small man syndrome
Put a unnamed note in to HR highlighting concerns for his mental health because of stress.
        Walk Away.

Healthy war chest = walk away, one of the benefits of being a contractor is that you don't have to put up with tulip like that.

          Otherwise what BP said

Agree to everything above. We contract because we have the flexibility and control of our own destiny. What's the point if you are going to make yourself miserable by forcing yourself to stay at god awful gigs. Use on of the best aspects of contracting, the fact you can walk away.. and do so.

              Walk.

You're just going to have issues all the time you're there. Best look for something else. IMO.
I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!

I've been in a similar situation in a permie role, before, and whilst keeping it professional, I found it the most satisfying experience in my working life to walk in the office after an other disagreement and hand back my phone and laptop and just say "I don't want to work with you anymore".

How exactly do you work with him?

You say he is the client? Is he the product owner, the project manager, dev lead? Does he sign your timesheets? Do you need him to do your job?

While the warchest and other available contracts may be a concern, this type of tulip is not worth it, if it is really that bad, walk.
