Progressive put me on it after I refused a joboffer. I was so glad those f@*ers didn't call me anymore... until they thought they had another excellent job for me (£25k perm no related skills at all)

Does it exist a black list for IT contractors?

An agency informed me they would never work with me again, after I decided to pull out of a permie interview (with plenty of notice I might add).
Couple of months later, a different agent from the same agency was on the phone, how are you getting on, are you looking etc etc.Comment

People shouldnt be so quick to dismiss this notion. There was one in the construction industry up until very recently.
It wouldnt surprise me if one still exists in the construction industry in another format.
Although not an agent, I was once blacklisted by someone I had previously worked with for roles at Longbenton after he'd got himself into a senior role for the on site 3rd party supplier.
After I'd been rejected for about the 12th time (Id told agents it was a waste of time submitting me but they were convinced I was a 'good fit' as they do!), he eventually told one persistent agent there was 'bad blood' between us. I was totally unaware of this seeing as Id introduced him to contracting and thought we got on ok.
At the end of the last job we worked on, he'd shook my hand and said he hoped we would work together again soon! Little did I know!
So yes, blacklists do exist in IT. I doubt it is industry wide and instead, will be limited to individuals or an agent \ agency who thinks you've been less than 'professional' in some way.Last edited by BolshieBastard; 20 November 2014, 10:18.I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!Comment

Companies have do not interview lists as well. For example I was applying for a perm job at BSkyB back in 2005, was rejected and they would not interview me for 7 years.
Something similar happened with Accenture.
After I rejected a contract extension at Barclays in 2010 they don't want to see me anymore either. I rejected the extension because it was not the right role they put me in, so it was in both parties interest not to continue, since several 100% fit contracts came up, but they refuse to invite me for an interview.Comment

Not a chance of there being a blacklist. Think about.
So you mess agent A around. They're hardly going to phone competitors and do them a favour are they? They might think twice about working with contractor but thats it.
So role comes up. Contractor applies via Agent B. Agent B is hardly going to listen to Agent A if he thinks he can get contractor in there, is he? Only way this is ever going to happen is if Agent A thinks, I'll get Agent Bs guy out the way to get my own person in there.
As others have said, you could spit roast an agents grandmother one week, they'd be on the phone the next week if there was a sniff of a few quid.Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!!Comment

Deffo is, not globally between different agents but they exist within the agency and any subs they have itselfComment

Yes there is, you are on it I've checked but if you pay me, I can get your company name removed. PM me. Good price, no?

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.
