    Attending interviews while on contract

As my contract is now coming to an end I'm speaking with lots of agencies and have had a fair amount of interest.
I now need to begin to attend interviews, but it's proving difficult.

Despite knowing that my contract is coming to an end there is absolutely no flexibility on the part of my current client.
The manager, while approachable, is unwavering and entirely inflexible when it comes to any time off whatsoever.

Whereas previously I would have an agreement to arrive an hour late and make up time I am now faced with the prospect of taking off full days in order to attend a single interview: not so bad if you have more than one a day, but so far I don't.

How does everyone else get around this?

Are the interviews near to current place, whereby you could go during a lunchbreak ?

Wow, where are you working? Nazi Germany?

3 interviews this week for me all done in work time, by making up time around the interviews basically. Sorry man that sucks.

        Dentist appointment perhaps?

Tell them you run a business and you must attend a business meetings as director of your ltd company from time to time and you will charge less for the day where you missed time.

Nothing says "professional" like lying to your client when they know where you are going

Either explain that you won't be available at a specific time on a specific day, or don't go to interviews until your contract has finished.

It's really not difficult. Continuity of contracts is nice to have, but not to be expected.

I don't look for other contracts when I'm already in one.

If I had to have an interview, then I would do it at lunchtime, after work, or before work in the morning. If your prospective client cannot accommodate that, and your current client is insisting that your company provides services on the dates and times that they are contracted to provide them, then you need to find a way to do that.
