Hate to burst your bubble but I was on £ 550 in Leeds for a 6 month spell in 2011/12. 7 days a week mostly. What a killer.

There are exceptions. There will always be exceptions but as its my local market I do know the usual going rate....

Me too and sadly it usually rules me out. I do keep in contact with some of the contractors I worked with in the north and most are on £ 350 a day. Almost all of the .NET work is ASP.NET MVC web applications, so easy barrier to entry keeps the rates down. Then you see something like MS Dynamics and Sharepoint, pair of noddy technologies paying £ 500. WTF????

£350 in the north for fairly generic skills isn't anything to complain about, when you don't need as much for your house

I think you'll find there is actually a hell of a barrier getting into those technologies. You may be able to pretend to an agent that you have 3 years experience in those technologies but I can safely say you will be quickly found out...

People deserve £500 a day to put up with Sharepoint, total pile of wank!

I quite fancy learning about Dynamics. Is it any good?

No its utter crap. But as I'm sat next to the other person in the North East who does it and we like the monopoly I have to say that..

Truthfully its got a hell of a lot of gotcha's which mean that you have to do things in particular ways (and they won't be the way Microsoft recommends). So when I say you need experience you really do. Otherwise you will spend days doing stuff that simply doesn't work when used in anger....
