Trouble with Contract - need urgent help

    Hi,

I work at a government site. I was offered a contract extension through my manager a few weeks ago. My agent has just got authorisation. I have had a chat with my boss and said I will let you know. This morning at 7:30am I sent him an email saying , can I work part time (3 days a week) for a little while. The reasons for this is becasue they hardly give me any work and my SC clearence has not come thru. THIS IS NOT A DEAL BREAKER so if they say no I would still consider my extension quickly. I believe they have revoked my offer becasue my boss goes away tonight and I finish tomorrow and I have not heard anything.. Is this legal to revoke the offer before given a chance to accept, and not letting me know. I know he has seen my email becasue I've seen him reading it on his screen. Anybody know what I should do ? thanks

Seems like an odd sentiment to express as a contractor.

He has a boss as well so I suspect HMRC won't see him as one.

I hope to god this isn't the reason you gave to your 'boss'/agency. I would kiss your extension goodbye if you did.

Looks like you are finished until your agent tells you otherwise.

I do hope you are through a brolly or have good IR35 insurance.

I believe your first sentence answers most of your questions...

Getting anything done in a Govt department is akin to an underwater knife fight (IME).
