Nissan picks Japan over Sunderland for new SUV

" In the wake of repeated warnings over Brexit, the car maker plans to build its new Ariya electric vehicle in Japan

Hopes that Nissan could build its latest electric car at its Sunderland plant have been dashed after the company said it will be produced in Japan.

The giant plant in the northeast of England had been in the running for production of the new Ariya but worries over Brexit’s impact on car exports from the UK are thought to contributed to it being ruled out.

Instead the car, to be launched next year, will be built in Nissan’s home nation and shipped to Europe and the US.

Nissan has repeatedly warned of the impact of Britain leaving the EU on Sunderland, one of the largest car plants in England and among the most efficient in the world.

Britain crashing out of the EU without a deal would mean the imposition of 10pc tariffs on cars exported to Europe under WTO (World Trade Organisation) rules.

Almost 80pc of the 350,000 cars produced at Sunderland are exported, the bulk of them going to Europe."

Nissan will abandon manufactures in the UK in it's entirety. Sunderland should never have been the site for their factory.
Sunderlanders are a bunch of lazy ****s they won't be sad, they will be happy on the dole and will be the first be the first to
whinge about be neglected. What is sad is Nisan's UK component manufactures who will go out of business.

Would these be from the Tesla giga-factory currently being built in Germany?
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.
