Finally a real country that will defend their fishermen!
It's very poor form to come out demanding before getting down to actual negotiations. Barnier et al know that trade negotiations are just that negotiations and that if they want to fish in our waters they'll need to come to an agreement as we will with them for our boats to fish in their waters. Shouting orders and hinting that they'll burn our boats in French ports isn't a good way to negotiate anything because it just puts peoples backs up and will guarantee they won't get what they want. The EU needs to get real and stop pretending they can bully us
It seems you have a poor understanding of fishing.
The UK fishing quotas are mostly owned by private investors who sell them. Over half our quotas have been sold to foreign fishing vessels.
A number of UK fishing ports went down the pan when the quotas were sold, but the CFP is blamed for that.
The UK’s representative on fishing at the EU refused to take part, debate or vote, saying it was a waste of time. As such he wasted his democratic mandate, then used his waste as an explanation of why things didn’t go his way.
