        The average house price is 233,000 and an average deposit is around 5-10% i.e. between 12- and 23,000.

          if a young couple can save £200 each per month, they can save the deposit in 3 to 4 years without a penny from bank of mum and dad.

            I don't think anyone is disputing that's it's easy enough to get on the housing ladder in a low-priced tulip-hole like Swindon. You managed it after all.
