Raab/Rees-Mogg/Johnson gameplan very transparent. Vote for this deal, then make merry hell with all the real legislation that needs to pass. By May 22nd, May's deal, or no deal. A real cliff edge.Comment

The reason they came around is that May promised to resign and that would put them in line to become PM.

We *have to* decide to organise EU elections by April 12th, or there can be no more extensions -- the EU would be illegally constituted. If this deal had passed, May could really genuinely have threatened 'pass my deal or no deal', and for once it wouldn't be bulltulip.
As it hasn't passed, the deadline is now the 12th April. If nothing happens between now and then to agree a deal or a further extension we crash out with no deal."Being nice costs nothing and sometimes gets you extra bacon" - Pondlife.Comment

Even if there was opposition in the HoC the government could have forced it through. We would then be into the transition period where we are supposed to thrash out trade deals/arrangements etc.
