And once they are in Calais what are they going to do hold them there indefinitely whilst more arrive?Originally posted by meridian View PostOf course. That’s why they’ve hired an extra 200 customs officers to process the extra checks.Comment

They’re French, they’ll just stop the ferries docking.Originally posted by Yorkie62 View PostAnd once they are in Calais what are they going to do hold them there indefinitely whilst more arrive?
I’m not sure why this isn’t being touted as good news by the Brexit camp - Calais have plans for inbound and outbound traffic, Dover are waving through the inbound, now we just need a statement on outbound. All sorted?Comment

So you are now going to have ferries floating around in the channel with no where to dock. They can't easily come back as they have left the country. That's going to work...NOT.Originally posted by meridian View PostThey’re French, they’ll just stop the ferries docking.

Well, how about you come up with a solution?Originally posted by Yorkie62 View PostSo you are now going to have ferries floating around in the channel with no where to dock. They can't easily come back as they have left the country. That's going to work...NOT.

You’re very quiet when it comes to workable solutions, how about you repeat your “it’s not a problem, no paperwork needed”, it’s what has been touted since those who wanted to leave have been asked what their suggested solution is.
Sticking your fingers in your ears is not a solution to something that requires an answer.…Maybe we ain’t that young anymoreComment

Then you just don’t know how ferries work. They won’t have clearance to leave.Originally posted by Yorkie62 View PostSo you are now going to have ferries floating around in the channel with no where to dock. They can't easily come back as they have left the country. That's going to work...NOT.

Honestly, do you think that when there were blockades at Calais, the ferry companies just said “**** that” and sent more and more ferries into the channel?Comment

What seems to be being presented, and what I am countering, is that everything will be rosy in the EU garden and the claim be remainders that it is only the UK that will be turned into a lorry park. My point is that if you want to take that stance then you have to acknowledge that it works both ways.Originally posted by WTFH View PostWell, how about you come up with a solution?

Incidently have you been watching the bbc2 series Inside Europe, 10 Years in Turmoil. Very interesting last night how a key decision on the Euro could only be made by Germany.

So even after the announcements by both Calais and Dover, are you saying that there are problems with the solutions?Originally posted by Yorkie62 View PostWhat seems to be being presented, and what I am countering, is that everything will be rosy in the EU garden and the claim be remainders that it is only the UK that will be turned into a lorry park. That depends on what the solutions are. What was being presented here was that Calls would wave through all lorries bound for the UK but would block any Lorries returning. Yes there is a problem with that solution and that is you will soon run out of ferries.Originally posted by meridian View PostSo even after the announcements by both Calais and Dover, are you saying that there are problems with the solutions?

What do you think is going to change when the clock ticks past midnight on brexit day?Originally posted by meridian View PostShould it be any worse than it is now? We’re now a third country, outside of the single market and customs union. A large number in this country don’t trust the EU.
Do you think that checks on goods and vehicles for anything coming in to the U.K. as an independent country should be more, the same, or less, than checks when we were part of the EU?
Are all these lorries suddenly going to stop carrying food and start carrying zombies?Comment
