    If they join up with disaffected Tories and go big to cover the whole Country then they might be an alternative to vote for. The problem for many is that there's no effective choice so end up voting traditionally whatever ones sentiment. The time is ripe for an alternative. Once May has got Brexit done and dusted then it'll be a new political era and we need to lose the parties of the last century and have new ones that are more in keeping with the times

        They might welcome it. But why would anyone join lib-dem and almost certainly be voted out?

        No-one cares who is the best person to be their MP. Only which party they want.

            A group of Labour MPs tried this in 1981, and they didn't gain much traction. They ended up merging with the Liberals, in 1988, to form the LibDems.
