Now, the Battle of Rotterdam. The Netherlands had 35 (then) modern wheeled armoured fighting vehicles, no tracked armoured fighting vehicles, 135 aircraft and 280,000 soldiers. Germany had 159 tanks, 1,200 modern aircraft, and around 150,000 soldiers at their disposal for the Dutch theatre alone. Nonetheless, the Dutch fought the Germans to a standstill over Rotterdam.
Hitler said "The resistance capability of the Dutch army has proved to be stronger than expected. Political as well as military reasons demand that this resistance is broken as soon as possible"
In order to break the stalemate, the Luftwaffe was brought in, who, despite there being a negotiated stalemate in place, dropped nearly 100 tonnes of HE on Rotterdam (there was no effective anti-aircraft defence available - it had been moved the the Hague), destroying the city centre, and leaving over 80'000 people homeless. Hitler threatened to do the same to Utrecht. The Dutch capitulated.
Shaunbhoy is quick to defend the soldiery in general (which I'm quite in favour of), but his derision concerning the Dutch forces during the WW2 shows him to be a hypocrite of the lowest order, worthy of only the contempt he pours on others.
Oh, just in case of doubt.
