You are spot on. In fact I NEVER actually peeled potatoes at all.
That is just some whimsical fantasy dreamed up by cretins like OG whose idea of how the military operates is based on Carry On Films and hazy notions of National Service.

It says a lot about you that you sucked all that nonsense up and took it as read.

By the way, the smileys at the end of every post are there simply to wind cretins up.
It continues to work a treat.

In stead of looking up the facts you keep on posting smiley faces over an incident that costed over 5000 people's lives and led to a 5 year occupation leading to many 1000s of more people dead, you're so disgusting and you think you're funny

I was pointing out that your Army lasted a few hours the last time they were put to the test, which hardly puts you in a position to cast aspersions about those that served in OUR Army. You know, the one that liberated you?

I'd suggest that there were branches of the WI that could have held out as long as the Dutch had we allowed ourselves to be invaded.

As I pointed out earlier, the smileys are there in my posts purely to wind up simpletons like you. As far as bang for buck goes they are untouchable.

What is disgusting is the lack of ban for starting a thread to insult someone - as the person being insulted being a Brexiter.

Though to be fair, one should expect little else from current shower of mods.

So it's more disgusting to start a thread about a proven imbecile, than to post smileys over the deaths of thousands of people? Typical brexiteer attitude

Again you are totally wrong as the Dutch fought for many years against the Japanese in WW2
The fact that the defence in The Netherlands itself wasn't very well organised is because the Netherlands were neutral in WW2, just like they were in WW1 and an invasion was not expected, but anyway it took longer than a few hours.

Of course the British were cowardly trying to escape through Dunkirk

On 8 December 1941, the Dutch government-in-exile declared war on Japan.[10] In January the American-British-Dutch-Australian Command (ABDACOM) was formed to co-ordinate Allied forces in South East Asia, under the command of General Archibald Wavell.[11] In the weeks leading up to the invasion, senior Dutch government officials went into exile, taking political prisoners, family, and personal staff to Australia. Before the arrival of Japanese troops, there were conflicts between rival Indonesian groups where people were killed, vanished or went into hiding. Chinese- and Dutch-owned properties were ransacked and destroyed.[12]

The invasion in early 1942 was swift and complete. By January 1942, parts of Sulawesi and Kalimantan were under Japanese control. By February, the Japanese had landed on Sumatra where they had encouraged the Acehnese to rebel against the Dutch.[13] On 19 February, having already taken Ambon, the Japanese Eastern Task Force landed in Timor, dropping a special parachute unit into West Timor near Kupang, and landing in the Dili area of Portuguese Timor to drive out the Allied forces which had invaded in December.[14] On 27 February, the Allied navy's last effort to contain Japan was swept aside by their defeat in the Battle of the Java Sea.[15] From 28 February to 1 March 1942, Japanese troops landed on four places along the northern coast of Java almost undisturbed.[16] The fiercest fighting had been in invasion points in Ambon, Timor, Kalimantan, and on the Java Sea. In places where there were no Dutch troops, such as Bali, there was no fighting.[17] On 9 March, the Dutch commander surrendered along with Governor General Jonkheer A.W.L. Tjarda van Starkenborgh Stachouwer.[13]
So 3 months......minus the time it took for the Japs to coordinate an invasion. Not quite "many years" is it?

Still, I suppose it is a straw you have to cling to under the circumstances.

Nice to see that your politicos haven't lost their propensity for hightailing it at the first sign of trouble and leaving the rest behind. No wonder they love the EU approach so much.

By proven do you mean 48% agree and you ignore the 52% who disagree?
