Well he may have a point as Speth has clearly failed to plan for the uptake in electric vehicles and the huge downturn in diesel vehicles.

Pretty fundamental trends to have a grasp of in his position (or not as his case may be!)

Not that this kind of thing would ever have crossed the dark plains of your tumbleweed intellect.

5% of all cars sold in the UK are currently electric or Hybrid not much of a market if that's only a few 100s of JLRs per year

10 years go EVs were not seriously considered and Speth was operating in environment set by regulators who targeted CO2, which encouraged diesel engines - he lives in a real world where he needs to sell big ticket items to real people, where as Boris just spouts tulip on ToryGraph for a LOT more than it's worth (which makes me think it's a "hidden" bribe)

Also Johnson is a compulsive liar way beyond the norms of politicians, so a sensible person would not believe his version of the conversation without corroboration.

Even if he said it was the future, so what - travel faster than speed of light is also the future, now go and try to implement it rather than tell others to do it.

He lives in a real world where he needs to be able to sniff the wind and predict future trends. He has clearly been asleep at the wheel and his complacency and lack of vision are now catching up with him and his company.

Doesn't really matter what Boris thinks, that is a bit of a sideshow. He is only regurgitating what is becoming common knowledge in the auto industry.
The fact is that on Speth's watch his company is being left behind by more visionary competitors.

To be honest, a sensible person would not believe his version of any conversation with a signed note from God. Because he probably faked it. According to his wife, he fakes his orgasms.

I put a caveat in, because maybe he published an article about the conversation some years back. It's important to keep up standards of probity, even when surrounded by cretins and liars. Especially so, some might say.
