The UK will be like Poland in the early '90s and import BMW write offs from the EU for the domestic cut and shut market.Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostI see more and more Kia and Hyundai cars on the roads everyday, so they will fill the gaps when the German cars become unaffordable...Comment

Nah it will be write offs from Ireland and Japan (steering wheel on the correct side for UK)Originally posted by Old Greg View PostThe UK will be like Poland in the early '90s and import BMW write offs from the EU for the domestic cut and shut market.Comment

Actually if you look at the rise in wages in Poland over the last 10 years and you can see how much it has caught up if the pound plunges again it's pretty clear that within 10 years Poland will be wealthier than the UK.

Those Koreans are slightly more savvy than the Japanese as they saw Brexit coming a long time ago...Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostI see more and more Kia and Hyundai cars on the roads everyday, so they will fill the gaps when the German cars become unaffordable...
In April 2007, Kia opened its first plant in Europe, at the initial cost of €1b, in Žilina, Slovakia, about 200 kilometres north-east of Bratislava, with initial production concentrating around the Kia Cee'd model, designed exclusively for the European market. The eventual capacity of the plant is 300,000 units per year. It is one of the few auto factories in the world that is capable of building up to eight different models on the same line, and build ratios can be tweaked to suit demand....
On November 2008, Hyundai opened its European plant in Nošovice, Czech Republic, following an investment of over 1 billion euros and over two years of construction. The plant, which mainly manufactures the i30, ix20, ix35 for the European market, has an annual capacity of 300,000 cars. The new Hyundai plant is 90 kilometres north of Kia Motors' Žilina Plant in Slovakia.

But it will impact the price people pay for the cars they buy, when you add our WTO tariffs onto them.Originally posted by original PM View PostNot really - I do not think Brexit will really impact the cars people buy.
And remember when car manufacturers used to rip British buyers off, but the EU wagged their fingers and told them to stop. Well, that will go away, and they'll be allowed to fill their boots, citing regulatory divergence for increasing the price of cars in a niche market.Taking a break from contractingComment

I saw a Left Hand Drive, Geman registered Jaguar in Germany. Very baffled by that, I mean why would they do that?Originally posted by BlasterBates View PostYes but they also buy British cars. in fact there is a show room full of British cars just around the corner from our office.
This is a painful lesson the British are about to learn.

Only around 10% of newcars are bkught - 90% leased or rented, and it only works because of cheap financing (drying up now) and strong second hand market (also propped up by cheap finance).Comment
