If there would be a new referendum

Promise is off because of new Govt - same way like promises of low taxes turn into higher taxes when Govt changes -
There won't be a new referendum, time to accept the greatness and fullness of Brexit, or pack your bags and leave.

What makes you think that the current republic can afford reunification?
Who's going to integrate the NHS into Eire?Comment

I also pronounce French names in a French accent to demonstrate my superiority.

We didn't have one. We didn't have one to join the original EEC (in 1973) either. We did have one in 1975 to decide whether to stay in the EEC.Originally posted by AtW View PostOk, so does that mean there should never be another General election ever?
What about referendum result which decided that Britain joins EU, why was another referendum allowed? His heart is in the right place - shame we can't say the same about his brain...Comment

So why second referendum was run, if it was already decided to join EEC?Originally posted by Mordac View PostWe didn't have one. We didn't have one to join the original EEC (in 1973) either. We did have one in 1975 to decide whether to stay in the EEC.Comment

Because the EEC became the EU. There were a few opportunities to ratify that with a vote but the EU & our masters decided not to allow those.

Those people you mention are Scots. If someone chooses to live, work and contribute to Scotland then they are entitled to call themselves Scots.Originally posted by tazdevil View PostThe trouble is there is no Scotland. Just been up there doing 1700 miles around the coast staying in B&B's and they were all owned and run by English, plus one Kiwi on Orkney. The restaurants as well with staff being mainly from East European countries. Scotland as perceived by the SNP only exists in that bit between Glasgow and Edinburgh and the rest could be the home counties. Most born and bred Scots are south of the border
