That's because we are still in the EU and under EU rules have to tender the job across EU countries. I expect when we fully leave we will not renew that contract as we will be FREE to do whatever we like, like give it to a US company because someone in the govt is a big shareholder there.

Yep that's right we all voted to leave because of the colour of our passport.

Though you do raise a good point perhaps we should start favouring British companies. Perhaps we could reduce the huge trading deficit we have the EU.

I get bored of saying this.

Brexit was about dumping the politicians - not about never trading with an European country ever again.

And in fact this sort of thing is pro brexit - look everyone knows we are leaving but businesses are still okay to do business and will continue to be going forward.

So the UK is buying stuff made in France - good.

They make good cheese n wine as well so I will probably continue to buy that.

Do EU rules obligate us to award the winners of those tenders to non-UK companies too?

I'm not quite so sure that's all it was about.

It's also quite ironic, given that our own home-grown politicians are doing a far better job at destroying the UK than any MEP could ever do!

Nope, it's considered fiscally prudent to award tenders to the best value (not necessarily the lowest cost), but Brexit isn't about what is fiscally prudent or even good sense.

No but that is because some people can see beyond the dollar to more important things.
