Rather then the EC/EP being able to halt any transition deal if the U.K. breaches, it would need to go to the ECJ, win there, and the ECJ would/could impose penalties for the breach on the U.K.

Sorry, I forgot that to Brexiters all judges are traitors and saboteurs, and not members of a judiciary independent to lawmakers.

It seems the ineptitude of our Tory government is going to bring a Brexit which takes us out of the single market and customs union, with a poxy free trade agreement for goods but no services or financial passporting,

Everyone knew what they were voting for, apparently. Brexit means Brexit. The Tory government are only implementing the will of the people, and the people want us to be worse off because it’s worth it to be able to repeal all those pesky employment and health & safety regulations so that our master’s businesses can flourish unhindered.

Any benefits will trickle down eventually, don’t worry.

We don’t have to, we can just leave with no transition period. After all, who in their right mind would trigger a 2 year timeline without a destination or a plan to get there, unless crashing out was the plan all along...? We can be governed under the jurisdiction of the WTO instead, which is taking back control because we’re making that decision to take their rules.

Of course, there’s still the little matter of 300k+ non-EU immigrants, but we’ve been ignoring that elephant for a few years now (since T May was Home Secretary, coincidentally) because there’s no convenient scapegoat for it like the EU.
