I like that too. At least it is not using the hard right propaganda technique of smearing opponents with the language of treachery and terrorism. -
Interesting quote here
French Le Monde writes about “The ample concessions of Theresa May”, claiming,
"Put under a back-breaking ultimatum by the European Union, Theresa May conceded on the key points that had remained unresolved…[She] suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of the European Commission, not just on the divorce bill – €50 billion instead of the €20 billion initially accepted – but also on Ireland and the competence of the European Court of Justice, even if the Europeans have conceded on this point as well."
Interesting use of the word defeat.
Defeat implies winners and losers - it implies someone is playing a game - a game which involves peoples lives
And the games are being played by the EU because they do not want their house of cards to fall.
Which is why I'm oot.Comment

That is quite some case you have built around a single word in a French newspaper. If you saw the position painted in a different way in another newspaper, would you be back in again?Originally posted by original PM View PostInteresting quote here

The Sun, Daily Mail, and the Daily Express have a much more conciliatory tone than Le Monde, I'm sure the editors of Le Monde could learn how to be humble and less jingoistic by reading them on a regular basis.I'm alright JackComment

Barnier has just informed the press that the UK won't be party to EU FTAs with other countries during the transition, the UK has to sort themselves out with their own replacement FTA's, eg South Korea, Switzerland and Norway etc

If I thought the EU government and politicians could be trusted to act like mature adult humans and not spoiled petulant children then maybe I would consider it but until then nah.Comment

“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”Comment
