German industry warns UK not to expect help in Brexit talks

"German industry has warned Britain not to rely on its help in securing a good Brexit deal, in a stark intervention that strikes a blow at the government’s EU departure plans.

Senior ministers have repeatedly claimed since the election that Germany’s powerful exporters will exert pressure for a deal handing Britain substantial access to the EU’s markets.

However, ministers are told that it is up to the British government to limit the economic fallout from its decision to leave the single market. With the government facing new pressure from business to soften its Brexit plans, German industrialists also warn that Britain will struggle to avoid economic damage as a result of exiting the bloc.

Two of Germany’s biggest industry groups have told the Observer that their main concern during the Brexit process is protecting the single market for the remaining 27 members, even if this harms trade with Britain."

EEA looks all but a done deal TBH, so this is irrelevant. We will still have single market access, and we will still buy German cars.

We don't need to buy German cars any more. Trump's going to let us buy American instead, and all it'll cost us is the NHS.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

We could always buy British cars, like Vauxhalls - that would stick two fingers up at European car makers if we do that.
Or buy Japanese - that might encourage them to make a trade deal with us. Buy Nissans. The Europeans won't like that.
Or maybe get yourself a Toyota Aygo. Better than giving your money to BMW for a Mini, or Renault for a Twingo.
Or a Mitsubishi Outlander - there's a hybrid one of them too.

But if we're going to buy American, how about a Jeep?

Not forgetting that Vauxhall is now owned by the French Peugeot Citroen Group

...and in the EEA the UK stay for years and years as each of the hundreds of laws that need to be repealed have to be voted on.

Brexit DERAILED: MPs plan to sabotage repeal bill as Theresa May celebrates anniversary | Politics | News | Express.co.uk

A cross-party group of politicians - both MPs and peers - are believed to be in talks about how to water down the government’s plan for a hard Brexit.

Anti-Brexit campaigners have revealed they plan to push for a “legislative war” of the Repeal Bill, to be published this Thursday - the first anniversary of Theresa May becoming prime minister.

The group plan to prevent the government from using so-called Henry VIII powers contained in the bill, which would allow Mrs May and her team to rewrite hundreds of laws without primary legislation.

But senior government sources warned if the plot was successful, the result could delay Brexit “for years” as the government would have to let MPs vote on hundreds of other laws and amendments.
Brexit relies on the so called Henry VIII powers which allows the government to bulldoze its legislation through without consulting parliament.

                    I'm alright Jack
