They’re owned by the GESMs now, so it’s not a British firm that has failed, but a French one that is failing, and we rejoice in the failure of others.Originally posted by Old Greg View PostBrexit is great for flushing out the Enemies of the Folk.…Maybe we ain’t that young anymoreComment

I fear you're out by 15 years in terms of the Chevette, another great rust bucket, which came along in 1975.Originally posted by vetran View Postcompared to the landscape it was in then it was a great design. It competed with the shovette & Zodiac.
The test of time: Classic Mini vs modern MINI | Auto Express
The competition at the time was the HA Viva, which rusted even faster than the Chevette, and the Ford Anglia.
And how could we possibly forget the Morris 1000?When the fun stops, STOP.Comment

My real point was that in 1959 the Mini was streets ahead of the competition, and even when the HA Viva came out it was still rather more impressive.
Which would you rather have driven.
Not the HA, I'll be bound.
It's a pity that the competence at BMC was so low that they never made a profit on the Mini.Last edited by DoctorStrangelove; 28 June 2019, 11:24.When the fun stops, STOP.Comment
