In doing so, they've exposed themselves to a heap of ugly possibilities, such as a full Act that can be amended in both houses, one that must be approved by the devolved administrations, and possibly even a deferral to the ECJ on whether A50 is reversible. As I say, there's scope for a constitutional crisis, because so much of our constitution is unwritten. It's bloody frustrating, but they need to be allowed to do their jobs now that HMG has pursued it. I'd expect that a short Act will be sufficient, but then I thought they'd win at the HC too....
I don't quite understand why someone who is so lucid in how he presents his arguments and is so knowledgeable bothers to come on CUK particularly as you never resort to name calling and insults

The insults are posted so subtly that no-one notices them

If the Court specifies how things are done it is effectively appointing itself as the Government.
The Gov't believes a lot of stuff, I'm afraid, but it is essentially putting forward the same arguments it made to the HC, which were comprehensively rejected.

            Of course you do.
It's because you don't like being reminded that the British economy is much too weak for a hard Brexit.

But I think you'll find that out soon enough.

And neither of you like being reminded of its strengths and we are, afterall, a services economy. We can trade indicators and readings all day, but it's pretty clear that all the pre-referendum prophecies of instant doom (not lagged or conditional doom, instant doom) were unfounded. However, this is a thread about the SC

It is rather concerning though that a substantial chunk of our service economy is trade with Europe suggesting that the current success of services will not continue in the long term, on hard Brexit.
And those services are most definitely not wanted in most of Asia, Africa or South America.

It's becoming increasingly clear that article 50 won't get passed without some very windy string wrapped around it.

Tory rebel MP's intend to attach strings to Article 50 approval
