    I think the UK is heading for an interim deal, and then there will be interminable negotiations for a final deal after that and the UK will spend many years trying to sort out it's WTO relationship and negotiate trade deals with the other 50 or 60 countries with which it currently already has a trade deal with through the EU.

      Governments may come and go but the civil service is there to ensure the state machine runs smoothly.
