A couple have an issue with paying contract rates but I assume that is more to do with impact on profit

Slight concern that many questions appear to be searching for the evidence certain comittee members would like to find.
I'm glad its concern rather than surprise. The people on that committee all have an axe to grind otherwise they wouldn't be sitting on the committee...

One comment was around the £22/day public sector figure, noting that it is over twice the average wage. If that's the benchmark.......

Who asked that. I'm guessing it was a clueless Labour peer....

The issue here is that this is an industry they can't understand. We will need a Janet and John book to explain why skilled freelancers are expensive.....

£22/day seems excessive. We used to pay mill owner tuppence a day for t' privilege...

How do we make them read it?

At my most pessimistic I get the feeling they believe it will be fine to put us all on payroll and there will be no impact to anyone other than us paying a bit more tax.

Set them all up with Ltd Co's, tell them to get on with it and then 6 months later set HMRC on them

£220 a day just happens to be the bottom of the Senior Civil Servant pay scale - that's basic salary, not cost of employment - divided by 260. I suspect that is not a coincidence...
