Two blank looks - "I showed my wife the contract before I signed it...". His wife is a baker.

Last one was discussing how it's easier to pay 4% on a director's loan (which currently stands at about £30000) and then repay it with a dividend at the start of the tax year, and then take out another directors loan...
I guess us CUKers, then, can take solace in the likelihood that there are rafts of marks out there way ahead of us in Hector's sights.....

Thow shalt take PRIDE and inhale the compliance gas... do they still do that?

Had a team manager there once tried to get an entire room full of techies to do the hokey cockey an an 'ice breaker' at the start of a planning workshop. I stayed seated and she never forgave me. Oh well.

You could say "I'm not going to do that". Before/if they get shirty say "don't worry I obviously won't be billing while I'm not working". Looks excellent for IR35 if you are not working part of your contract, AND you are avoiding all this guff. And you can have a mini-holiday!

You could always do it and not bill for the time. Call it networking, or something.

I've tended to take a "I'm sorry I assumed it didn't apply to me" approach to anything like this, but if they've explicitly said "including contractors" it's a bit more difficult.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Nope, although it's around that neck of the woods (in Wales).

There's no way i'm doing it, paid or not. I have told them so (in a polite way of course).

I said i'm ok to do a pub visit in the evening for some "team building". Still waiting for a response

There's been a few "starters" very recently, perm and contractors. Client thinks it would be a good idea if we all went through some team building bollocks. Like painting some rooms and clearing the tulip out of some gardens... including contractors

Don't worry though, we get paid for it

There's a handful of contractors onsite, and they all seem to be blissfully unaware of the IR35 implications. Some of them said it's a good idea! 1 says not to worry, we won't get caught [by HMRC]!. Kingcook said he'd rather just just get on with the work he's contracted to do.

I get the feeling I haven't heard the last of this

How many dumb contractors are out there? FFS! I was expecting the contractors to be sticking together. I suppose there is always the chance that some/all of them may be working through an umbrella.

They focused on a different letter of the word Pride each year. Dont know what happened after 5 years, perhaps they went back to P again.
