This nonsense again. Stevie, if you have a problem with me, please do email me at my usual address or pick up the phone.

If, as I suspect, you are one of our competitors ( and I am fairly sure I know which one), why not concentrate on improving your own performance, rather than resorting to such underhand and juvenile tactics?

Oh, and while you are at it, try to get the name right, and consider taking some grammer lessons.

I see from similar threads (all posted late at night - nothing better to do?), you are claiming to have used SJD and Contractor Umbrella at the same time which is slightly odd don't you think?

For the record (again!) SJD own Contractor Umbrella, not Contractor UK. A difficult concept I know what with having the same word in both Company names.

If you do have a genuine complaint about either SJD or Contractor Umbrella, pick up the phone to me.
P.S. What Spreadsheet? Revolutionising the contracting market again.

      I think SJD are brilliant.

I've not had a moment's problem with them so far since I joined them back in late April and I am certainly not in their pocket professionally with a vested interest in marketing their worth on this site.

I am just an ordinary contractor who is just as likely to slag off bad service when merited as praise it when praise is due.

But I switched to SJD a while back. I had to ask for a hurry up on some VAT numbers once, and got an immediate response. I've asked a few questions and got instant and authoritative answers. Otherwise, they are nearly invisible; I send in the quarterly spreadsheet and everything happens automagically. Which is exactly what I am paying for.

              Hello Everyone

I've noticed that some people on this forum have been saying some really nice things about us and so we'd like to say a big thank you.

I'd also be more than happy to answer any question that anyone has about umbrella companies and how they work.

p.s. yes, we are part of the SJD Group and no we are nothing to do with ContractorUK.

Sorry, I had turned a bit Fleetwood there for a moment. Back to normal now.

                    Hi Malv,

I send in the quarterly spreadsheet
I'm always keen to improve my processes and make year-end a bit slicker. Does your spreadsheet include your income/outgoings, things like that?

It's one they provide their customers and is basically a General Ledger in Excel - Invoices raised, monies received, VAT charged, expenditure made. Fill in the numbers in the right columns from bank cand card statements (which are all available online with HSBC of course), check the two numbers at the bottom equal your bank statement and it's all done.

Only real fiddle is the VAT column, since it doesn't know if a particular expenditure is VAT-able or not and at what rate but that's hardly a major issue (if it was, I'd have stuck to Quicken or something)

I do mine monthly (when I'm working!), takes about 10 minutes. Add a couple of my own spreadsheets to pull VAT out of Gross, add VAT on to Net and show up the VAT element of mileage, and my usual business mileage meter and it's all there.
