PPI Claim company incompetency... how to get revenge?

Ok, posting this as I am particularly narked right now but when I am feeling less vindictive it probably won't be an issue but here we go....

Engaged PPI company to sort through a ton of paperwork as there is something in there. CBA to sort it so let them do what they say.
Engage them, sign the letters of authority etc. Fine and dandy.
Forget all about it for about 6 months until we find paperwork so start leaning on PPI company.
After that it is just a sorry tale of pure incompetence from the PPI company who either haven't done anything out it or chased it. They ask us for 2 forms of ID which is the last straw. 10 months down the line now.
Phone the bank that gave us the loan and they advise us that the proper process for authority was never completed 8 months ago so nothing has been done... At this point I am ****ing livid. Bank bloke was really nice and said sod them, do it yourself. Starts the ball rolling on the PPI claim. 2 minutes of work the PPI people didn't do in a year....

So.... Time to nail the PPI company to the wall... but how best to do it.

Is there anything a consumer can do about a company that has failed in it's duty after spending a considerable amount of time chasing them on the phone or by letter? Obviously we will sack them so they won't get a penny but does that mean I have no rights to charge them for anything. I haven't lost anything but time so don't think I can claim money back from them?

I am in the mood to spend sometime having a go at them just out of interest to see what happens but obviously won't bother if I don't have any rights.

Maybe tomorrow I will have moved on but just interested to know.

Bearing in mind the guesswork you post I would assume this comment is just as incorrect and unfounded as everything else you post.

I guess that gives me open season on you in prof forums. My warning indicated I couldn't bully you if unprovoked so giving me a reason would indicate I have free reign and you can't go crying to mods about being bullied this time.

I had a mortgage PPI issue - contacted the bank, whose PPI helpline, incidentally, was based in Manilla who said I had no case. One of these claims companies phoned on a random punter hunt so I spoke to him; fairly short conversation:

"Have you spoken to the bank"

                "Yes"

"Did they say that you had a case"

"No, despite the fact we never wanted or needed or agreed to the product, they say we were not mis-sold PPI"

"Oh, right, well in that case we can't help you"

Ended up contacting the FSA who said we definitely did have a case (maybe 2) and that we would be entitled to recovery of payments - current claim processing times were 12 to 18 months So if you can give me a year or so I'll let you know how we get on

Move on its a short term market for a particular sort of cowboy lawyer. Six months to a year down the line the poor sods trying to do the work will be let go because the work has dried up.

See 250 jobs go as Lawyers2you becomes latest PI casualty | The Law Gazette for what is happening to the people who did personal injury claims.

Well to be fair I had heard similar stories so thought it better to go through one of these outfits first so they can find out if we have a case. We didn't want to give an incorrect answer and invalidate our own claim through not being able to remember or understand. If they want to bend the truth or manipulate the claim for a win (which is obviously in their interests) it is up to them. I fill in the paperwork truthfully and leave them to it.
