I had set up a direct debit to pay VAT from my Business bank account and the first payment form this came out in September. My VAT was due to be paid start of December and as I had DD setup my accountant just submitted my return. I noticed that after first week of Dec no VAT payment had been taken, I logged into the VAT online portal and reset it up as It looked to have been removed. My payment went through on 19th and I just received a 10% surcharge!! What is going on here?

Wouldn't it be great if it was a level playing field and they had to pay YOU 10% for their mistake (the same as the surcharge they wrongly tried to levy).Free advice and opinions - refunds are available if you are not 100% satisfied.Comment
