I only ever get to speak to the Accountants assistant. SJD put on their website that if we don't respond to you same day (provided email is before blah blah) we will refund you that months installment, great, but the response you get is an auto reply saying thank you for your email I will respond to you in full shortly, which usually is over a week with me chasing! I called to complain and they just kept putting me through to my accountant...

I'm now looking to leave, as SJD have not done my end of year accounts am I able to get money back? They have sent me a couple of emails and done my VAT nothing else (I set the company up myself). I'd be interested if anyone else has had similar issues, or can advise me?

As a side I do accept that this may be the particular accountant not necessarily a reflection of SJD as a whole but this is my experience and that is all I can go off.
Hmm. Surely an auto-reply doesnt count as a reply? Thats a bit naughty. If this is the case, theres no way they could ever fail this.

A week to reply is a bit much. I'm with NW and if it takes 24 hours thats out of the ordinary,. Usually its within hours. Excellent service.

(BTW - Im in no way connected to NW - just a happy client).

It's OK he has two posts now he copy-pasted that reply into a new thread. Now we have two "leaving SJD" threads in a row which doesn't look that great

A cynic would suggest that your opinion might be weighted in favour of your brother, Lisa.

This isn't how we work, and never has been. An auto reply isn't an answer, and we never take a week to respond. Why don't you email me with the accountants name and I will investigate for you. I will post a full reply here too. My email address is simondolanatme.com
P.S. What Spreadsheet? Revolutionising the contracting market again.

The contractor in question was considering moving over from SJD and asked the question. I didn't know the answer so asked here.

For the record, I have 250 clients, SJD have 7,000. I think in the last three years, we have traded maybe 3 or 4 clients. So while we do operate in similar markets, we are not really in competition. I have a huge amount of respect for Simon and what he has done with SJD.

So, sorry. Mea culpa. I guess I'll slink off now and lick my wounds.
I would ban you just for the use of that phrase.

Apologies all, I commented here then saw the thread is from 2007 so started a fresh thread, perhaps a newbie mistake.

Simon from SJD has contacted me and I will be sending the relevant emails etc to him for investigation. Will keep you posted on the outcome.

You have to start somewhere, unfortunately my start is due to a negative experience.

Of course it is but I will always take with a pinch of salt any first post moaning about any company

True but most people would start by exhausting the firms complaints procedure - Simon's not difficult to get hold of, as he's proved on here, and I am sure he will sort out your queries for you
