    Mileage Expenses

    Hello and welcome to me.

I have a question. If I have racked up >10k miles, when can I start to claim expenses at 45ppm again - is it at the start of the personal fiscal year (being a personal expense?) - i.e. April? If I did the mileage in March 2012 but am paying myself the expenses in April, do I claim at 25ppm or 45ppm?

    Thanks
    Marcus

A search is bound to find this for you but I'll save NLUK the task.

Mileage rates go from tax year to tax year so From April (1st / 6th depending how pedantic you are) its 45p a mile until you hit 10,000 miles then 25p for each mile after that
As for mileage in March 2012 it depends on the number of miles you claimed in the 2011-12 tax year (i.e. April 2011-March 2012). if its less than 10,000 its 45p a mile, 25p afterwards and the claim is for the day you travel not the day of claim or payment.

Yeah thanks - I've been lurking for sometime and note that that vast majority of your posts are sneery, self-righteous and unhelpful. Still, whatever floats your boat Northernladuk.

PS - I think you mean Smidgen. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence would know that.

Thank you. That seems to link here? http://forums.contractoruk.com/priva...=newpm&u=17243

Can I not just ask a question though without fear of being shot down by the forum overlords?
