Guys, you *really* need to put a few frames at the end with the NTRT url... it's marketing 101...

The more crushing, humiliating defeats HMRC suffers, the better. They are currently in overdrive.

The Tories need to have a resounding shock to the system, to reduce their complacency.

Anyway, you lot have my sympathy and I hope it all goes well for you.

I see the Daily Mail is wading in on the side of Joe Public vs the bully boy taxman. I wonder if the press is setting the scene for what's coming? I'd expect to see a lot more of these stories over the coming weeks with more than a bit of outrage being expressed when APNs get debated.

That was my first thought, but then I read a bit more of the story.

If a taxpayer is content that their return is accurate then they do not need to do anything
If that is correct (and that's a big if - this is HMRC we are talking about), I really don't see what the fuss is about. If you are paying 22% tax on 150K income then either

          a) You made a big error
          b) You're fiddling (evasion)
          c) You did some serious tax planning - not illegal, but almost certainly you would have had an accountant look over it, so they could double check the status and advise.

However, from an BN66 point of view - any press where HMRC are being viewed as going after the little guy is good.

You went behind the headline and checked the facts? The world could do with more people like you. :-)

I'd highlight the bit where they compared HMRCs treatment of multinationals compared to individuals if we're cherry-picking. (Also like to say I didn't buy the Daily Mail).

I think / hope that your last point is correct. Tbh though, I think our cause is very likely a lost one, but anything that at least balances the public perception a bit is welcome if only to save fellow BN66ers from immediate bankruptcy when APNs get sent out. But I hope that this is a sustained press campaign that can look beyond the likes of ourselves and EBTs etc, and just for once focuses on the erosion of people's rights. We're used as the excuse for implementing Draconian laws but what's happening now is just plain wrong.

We might get some bashing, but at least the argument would be an informed one and we could give our side of the story without always having to submit to whatever label they want to stick on us. I know nothing of this type of technology, but maybe there are some of our number who do?
Fantastic Idea! I thought this myself and then wondered if an independent news channel would air it as well like RT (Going Underground, Max Kieser, Sputnik with Goerge Galloway - are great potential news shows)- which is getting more and more popular - so popular that OFCOM wants to shut it down as it's deals with the Truth as opposed to the propaganda government, corporate mouthpieces.

Letter sent. Mrs Fireship will be doing the same. In fact baby Fireship will also be writing (in green crayon) asking what happens to her if her family are made unjustly bankrupt, especially as she has an extreme anxiety disorder which means she needs absolute stability, any change in routine (loss of family home) would have a truly devastating effect which could remain with her for life!

Remember to mention Vodafone in the Documentary

Lets not forget this in the documentary:

George Osborne, with is Millions of pounds offshore trust set up by his daddy, had to go their,
on our tax payers funding to argue for Vodafone.

                    got response from my MP:

Thank you for your email. I share your concerns about the new powers being taken by the Revenue, and am in correspondence with Mr Gauke about it. I am trying to persuade the government to change its mind, as I do not think there would be anywhere near a majority for a rebel amendment. Labour I expect are in support of this measure.
