Steve Baker is holding his briefing at 11am on Wednesday 19th. My MP has said he'll try to attend. Nothing like commitment.

Got a response from the last letter, saying that my MP (Mark Hunter), will speak to Stephen Williams who is on the finance sub committee. I am due to get a response from him apparently....

Agree. Nothing is clear cut with politics.

          Tweet from Steve Baker:-

Good meeting with colleagues on retrospective tax and #BN66 before moving NC1 tomorrow if not talked out. High principle meets low reality.

so I guess my quesiton being I assume therefore that NC1 is really just for raising awareness of the issue.

Just means that he hopes the clause gets debated and they dont run out of time due to a lot of talk beforehand.

Understandably a fair bit of speculation at the moment with regards to what happens tomorrow. Lets wait and see.

Whatever happens support against the retrospective element of S58 is increasing at a great rate due to increasing awareness.

The issue is complicated and as MPs (and others) take the time to understand what HMRC have done, how they have brought about S58 FA 2008, the impact of not following protocol and changing the law in this way, the more they are willing to listen and make a stand.
