Bob Neill of course the very same Bob Neill that resolved the retro-rates issue for UK ports - a good man.
    Well done NaP.

Still not heard anything back from my MP (George Hollingbery) apart from the "thanks for contacting us...." standard reply.

I'll send another chaser over the weekend

        Take a bow

To everyone from WhiteHouse, NTRT, DR, Emigre, TSBT and all of us who have put the effort to write and write and write to our MPs - we all should take a bow.

Nothing is promised at this stage. However, no matter what happens I personally believe we should all just take stock of how hard all of us have worked and salute those who have gone the extra mile.

I met with an MP in person. It was totally out of my comfort zone but still I did it. I'm proud - we all should be.

Let's carry on the fight. For me this is just the start - win or lose I want to take on the establishment regarding how this countries tax affairs are "really" run. I crave fairness and clarity for all self employed AND no more personal attacks on people.

        P.S. 1 bottle of red down :-)

I have just seen my MP. It was a very uncomfortable meeting but nevertheless I put my points across as forcefully as I could. I felt like I failed, but I did my best, which was undoubtedly better due to the hard work of the notoretrotax team. The member documentation is excellent, Technical Exchange 63 is a nuclear bomb in the heart of HMRC/HMG's argument. Whatever my MP thought of me, probably not much, this takes some explaining.

I don't feel better about S58, notwithstanding Whitehouses/NTRT fantastic effort, but am determined to go down fighting!

          I need alcohol!

Good one BR. It's a roller coaster ride for me. I think every effort that is made is worth it to highlight awareness. At least we cant say we havent tried, but keep the faith !

I felt the same way after coming out of mine. I didn't have enough time was my main problem and wanted to say loads more but there is only so much you can get across in such a short meeting. If they believe and understand then they will follow it up. Without at least going in they wont even know.

I know who your MP is but even if I didn't I would have been able to deduce the following:

              1) Tory
              2) Loyal to the party (ahead of principles)

Only Labour MPs can freely express their opinion, and I can't think of any who haven't been supportive.

The LibDems have always been more independent and, even though they are in a coalition, they have been largely supportive. Even some LibDem Ministers !!!

It's not you or the strength of our case. It's your MP that's the problem.

Hard to disagree, but then I am a semi autistic IT geek, so I may have read it wrong.

                  Confused

Sorry to ask (been doing the usual anti social hours that IT demands) having a look at the committee members one of the chairs is Jim Hood, who happens to be my MP. I am assuming there isn't more then one?

Does this mean that he has to be neutral? Anyone know?
