    sjd accountancy

Simon, probably one for you to answer, but Id be interested to hear any opinions from guys using the sjd service.

I’m in the process of advising a friend who’s about to take the leap into contracting. As a (relatively) old hand (who was burt at start up by Giant – don’t ask… ), I currently do my own month to month accounts and just get the local guy on the corner (also a friend) to knock up the end of years for filling.

I will recommend to my friend that they (at least initially) go with a full service IT specialist accountant, and I know from searching on here that SJD come recommended. My question then is this, what’s the difference between all the various SJD offices? Do the recommendations on here come from using one office in particular? I imagine service levels can differ somewhat between the various regions. My friend is based central London, so its those guys in particular that would be of interest. But as all stuff can be done over phone/email, I would rather recommend an office someplace else in the UK if they are perceived to offer a significantly better service.

    Cheers!

Dont forget Darren at 1st Accountancy, I am sure he will pop up and wave if you ask.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

I seem to drift between the Bristol and Cheltenham offices for day-to-day stuff but since you have a single, named contact (the excelent Peter Morris in my case), it's doesn't really matter that much.
      Blog? What blog...?

          Hi Pickle,

Other than the location of the offices you shouldn't find a difference between any of them in terms of service. All charge the same price, all work to the same services standards etc.

As your friend is based in Central London our Liverpool Street office would be ideal.

            Simon,

may be worth editing that post with the email address, otherwise matthew will find himself very popular with those spammer types.

I've only ever dealt with the head office, and to be honest I thought they other offices were just "virtual" offices they used. Not that it really matters as I stay in touch with email and post, so they could be anywhere.

I think they're good at looking after everything for you, and they make it very easy, but I sometimes feel like it's a bit of a conveyer belt approach rather than a personal service, and perhaps a small local accountant might be better (if you could find a good one), especially if you're a bit anal like me and want to know everything that's going on. I won't go into detail but I've been a bit unhappy with them recently because of a problem resulting from that.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.
