[picky]
I never had a problem claiming anything I fancied as an expense. The investigation was a different matter
The taxis are not a problem, however one area that HMRC do have possible concerns over is establishing that the journey actually took place. If you have a receipt, no worries, HMRC can bleat as much as they want that you took a taxi rather than bus/tube/hitchhiking, but for those journeys (if any) without receipt you will need to satisfy it happened.
Yep, thats why i keep all the reciepts, and details of my time away from home on business, so that i can tie up my time on client site with the taxi reciept.
Good reason to keep my own timesheets
Whilst this thread is dead now and becoming more of a bun fight....
I for one think it's a valid Q. and possibly it was misinterputed by the wording. There are lots of threads where people have questioned their accountant's decisions.
If this had been Joeman's friend posting saying "My accountant has advised me not to take taxis - is this correct?" then there would be a flurry of replies saying how he should change accountant and that this is bollox.
So why is that any different from my accountant allows me to claim for taxis but my friend's doesn't - am I missing a trick here?
Now if the question was - will Hector get suss that all my taxi's seem to be at 11:30pm on a Friday from the city centre to my house - these were implementations honest guv - I could expect a bit more stick.
And yes, they were all OOO implementations *cough*

in return for some freindly banter and a modest tip, apparently, the cabbies will give you a few spares, presumably as backups just incase you drop the original i a puddle....

You don't even have to do that.
Some of them will just give you a handful without asking.
BTW your mate down the pub may have an accountant who has a lot of p*ss takers.
"You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JR

Yes, thankyou.. you understood exactly what i meant...
Its just another example of a perfectly sensible question posted on this forum that most seemed to understand, resulting in a bun fight, simply, because certain people cant read/have a grudge...
