    Any experience with Crunch accountacy?

    Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone here was with crunch.co.uk and could recommend them?

Their price is only 50% of what normal accountancies are charging. And their web based system looks really amazing.

Since I am only three months away until my company's year end date, they said they would only accept me if I extended my company year end date to at least another month. As this is a risk to them accepting new customers close to year end, as the customer could simply switch right after again.

Are there any complications if I changed my company year end date?

    Many Thanks,

Last time i looked at Crunch, their online system didnt support time tracking, so didnt lend well to Contracting when you raise invoices based on timesheets.

Im pretty pleased with K&B as they offer IRIS Openbooks in the fee - 90quid per month - sorted

Darren Fell from Crunch has posted on here before..

It appears IR35Avoider is the only poster here admitting to using them so could ask him...

If you want my opinion don't look at the price and go for one of the contracting specialist big boys. Even better if they post on here. If you are starting out paying for a bit of extra time from your accountant will make all the difference.

        just joined them

I've just joined them having had my fingers burnt with SJD - sadly.

I'm very impressed with the online ability of Crunch. The website is superb. Not only that but they are actively fixing any issues and just went live with an update to help importing of bank statements from HSBC via CSV file format.

        So far so good.

For me it wasn't the cost that was important, I was just looking for something very simple that wasn't spreadsheet driven and wouldn't allow me to pay over what I'm supposed to be paying myself.

I have been using Crunch for over 2 years now and am more than happy to recommend them.

Previously I used Nixon Williams before taking time out but I liked the look of the Crunch UI thought I'd give them a go and was quite impressed.

Never had any issues with them and they are always helpful should you need advice from them.

The system is upto the click, so as soon as you create an invoice, take dividend etc, You can see all your figures (corporation tax, VAT, salary, minutes) change.

I like the paperless method so its a big thumbs up from me. They have the data so they can create end of year returns, calculations, VAT returns instantly.

Works for me and I'm a bog standard contractor.

Regarding the timesheet question, Surely you would just raise an invoice and go from there wouldnt you?

I'm another satisfied crunch user - I've been with them for just over a year now - I was with a brolly previously.

The website gets better and better with each release, and they are quick to respond to any calls / emails, etc.

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. As this is my first year of contracting and you guys might have more experience than I in this:

Since I am only three months away until my company's year end date, Crunch said they would only accept me if I extended my company year end date to at least another month. As this is a risk to them accepting new customers close to year end, as the customer could simply switch right after again.

Are there any complications if I changed my company year end date?

                Many Thanks,

So where are you recording your time? IMO for the system to be a "complete solution" it should allow you to record your time, then based on unbilled time, automatically calculate the invoice, otherwise you end up having to record/keep track of you time by other means...

With IRIS open books, i can have multipe clients, each with a day rate or hourly rate set. I then book my time against each client. at the end of the month i simply generate an invoice for each clients unbilled time. Simples

I have used Crunch for over a year now. I have been very happy with web based tools. More importantly, their accounting is really good and they respond quickly. I would definitely recommend them.
