If I am interpreting the link correctly, I am not allowed to make a donation in return for advertising, for example. I don't know if I have misunderstood the link correctly or not.Originally posted by Clare@InTouch View PostThere are some restrictions though, so go careful HM Revenue & Customs: Gifts to charity made by companiesIf your company is the best place to work in, for a mere £500 p/d, you can advertise here.Comment

There are limits as to what you can get in return for a donation, as shown on the link. It depends on what you're getting in return, and the value of it.Originally posted by pmeswani View PostIf I am interpreting the link correctly, I am not allowed to make a donation in return for advertising, for example. I cannot remember the details now, but I do know we worked it out as preferable to make my (fairly sizeable) donations personally - I tend to do this when I take a dividend.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

Don't you have to have paid tax equivalent to that reclaimed? I took that to mean income tax, and since I pay no income tax, I've stopped gift aiding and started giving through the company.Originally posted by d000hg View PostYes but note that Gift Aid comes into play when you make a personal donation - HMRC give the charity back the tax you paid earning that £50.

To clarify, I am not looking to gain anything in return (tax benefits, advertising or anything) ....the donation itself will be small....abt £50 a month.....Originally posted by TheFaQQer View PostDon't you have to have paid tax equivalent to that reclaimed? I'll be donating to organizations like WWF, RSPCA, Orgs helping children in Africa etc....contributing £10 a month to each....
Is there anything i should be aware of before I set up a direct debit from my business account?
Inputs much appreciated.Last edited by bluedrop; 6 January 2012, 22:37.Comment
