Accountant recommendation required - Cardiff

Hi,

I currently use an accountant who is based a few hundred miles from where I live, with contact by e-mail, phone and post. I'd like to switch to an accountant who is local to the Cardiff area - can anyone recommend a good accountant, please?

As we get asked this so much I have compiled a list of accountant recommendation threads including requests for local services. To save time I have named accountants that have been recommended at least 3 times in these threads.

The general consensus of the threads I have read below are to go with the contractor specialist ones rather than a local bod. Knowing our business is better than face to face it seems. Some people are recommending a local guy so the choice is yours. I have done both and the specialist one wins hands down. I am with SJD.

Advice - dont go to PCG website to look for one....

Advice - dont go to PCG website to look for one....

Another urban myth. As it says quite clearly, the PCG Accredited Accountant is only certified to know about how to manage freelance contractors. It doesn't say they're any good at being an accountant.

But I've used SJD for many years and they have a Cardiff office. Then again. I've never been to the Cheltenham office where my accounts belongs and have only rarely spoken to them. Doesn't seem to have stopped them providing an excellent service...

I can second that what malvolio says having had first hand experience of this.

I'm in Wales but with NW. Excellent they are.
